DO YOU AVOID SQUEAKING BRAKES?

Prior to the first ride, all electric bicycles with hydraulic or simple disc brakes must go through a "bedding-in" process to provide the most reliable, even, and consistent braking possible. For disk brakes, the amount of friction produced by the caliper's squeeze on the brake pads on either side of the rotor is sufficient to halt the cycle.

But before you go for your first full ride, you need follow a bedding-in technique to make sure the brake pad residue is evenly and smoothly applied to the rotor surface. In addition to removing any contaminants from the brake pad surface, this method will stop the pads and rotors from being scratched or scarred.

ACTIONS REQUIRED:

  • Find a place where you can ride safely at a moderate speed. For best outcomes, keep sitting for the entire procedure.
  • Then, firmly squeeze the brake levers until you are moving at walking speed after accelerating the bicycle to a moderate speed. It's crucial to avoid locking the wheels at any time when the vehicle is breaking in.
  • About twenty times total, repeat this method.
  • Increase the cycle's speed, then vigorously press the brake levers until you are moving at the speed of walking.
  • About ten times, repeat this method.
  • Before your first ride, let the brakes cool.
  • Despite the fact that this is a quick and easy process, it will pay off in the long run and make riding an electric bike more enjoyable.
