HOW DO I GET READY TO RIDE IN THE WINTER?

In addition to being pleasurable, Rev Powerports thinks that riding in the winter is a need for enjoying your bike.

The goal of Rev Powerports is to provide power-assist bicycles that will replenish and revitalize YOU! Rev Powerports  are prepared for the weather, whether you're riding in +25°C or -25°C! Rev Powerports motorcycles can manage muck, slush, and snow thanks to basic features like 48V 500W engines and strong batteries (48V 13Ah all the way up to 48V 21Ah in the Mammoth).

E-bike riding is a year-round activity!

In actuality, we selected our design choices with tough settings in mind. Rev Powerports bikes can accommodate whatever you need whether you're attempting the commute to work in Edmonton, Montreal, or San Diego.

A COUPLE OF ADVICE:

1. Look after the battery well

Making sure your battery is in good condition is one of the most crucial things you can do to shield your bike from the weather. This entails keeping the battery indoors while not in use and charging it only when it has warmed up to room temperature (it's best not to charge a cold battery). Additionally, it is preferable to keep the battery partially charged (often around 70%) if you plan to store it for a while. But during the winter, kindly keep the batteries inside!

Although it is perfectly safe to ride your bike in below-freezing weather, keep in mind that the battery life will be shortened and the amount of distance you can go on a single charge will probably decrease. Rev Powerports makes bikes for difficult terrain, and we've increased the size of every battery to give it more life in the winter.

As stated previously, a heated battery must always be charged, and the battery must wait until it has reached room temperature before charging. Over time, charging a cold battery will cause it to lose power. Additionally, you shouldn't try to heat the battery quickly with a heater because it could harm the battery.

Additionally, you should charge the battery more frequently than in the summer or during the warmer months. The charge that lasted a week in the summer may only last a few days in the winter because the battery won't be able to store as much energy in the cold.

2. Keep it dry and spotless

On Canadian roads throughout the winter, your e-bike will encounter a lot of slush, sand, gravel, and salt; avoid riding in slush if possible. Slush is a nasty mixture of salt and moisture that will rust the bike by allowing moisture to get into hard-to-reach areas. Although Vamoose bikes are weatherproof, they feature rust-prone parts and electronic components that could malfunction if they get too wet. It is crucial to keep your ride as tidy and dry as you can when your ride is over. After each winter ride, thoroughly wiping down your bike will help keep it dry and in good working order.

Additionally, you should treat all exposed metal parts, especially spoke nipples, with a protective coating or product, such as Rust Check. Such substances will aid in preventing the accumulation of moisture on rust-prone components.

You will undoubtedly want to safeguard your chain. Make sure you oil the chain and other metal components frequently.

4. Examine the vehicle visually before each ride

Before each ride (winter or summer), you should generally visually inspect the bike's major parts, including the wheels, brakes, motors, battery, chain and derailleur, wiring, etc. You should perform a visual inspection specifically for the wiring to make sure that the wires are connected, are not exposed to the elements, and are still in good working order. Making sure the wiring is connected correctly, that the wires' coverings have not been harmed, and that there are no cuts or scratches that could impair the operation are all part of a visual inspection of the wiring.
